I have had the opportunity to work extensively with Courtyard by Marriott Hotels, a globally recognized brand within the Marriott International portfolio. Known for its focus on business travelers and modern hospitality, Courtyard by Marriott operates hundreds of properties worldwide, combining comfort, functionality, and technology to create a seamless guest experience. My involvement with the brand spanned several critical areas during the early phases of hotel development and operations.
My responsibilities primarily centered around the initial IT-related procurement processes. This included sourcing, evaluating, and selecting key technological assets required for daily hotel operations—ranging from networking hardware and communication systems to workplace infrastructure and productivity tools. I ensured all purchased solutions aligned with Marriott’s global standards, while also tailoring them to local operational needs and budgetary constraints.
In addition to procurement, I played a leading role in the setup and deployment of corporate network environments and end-user workplaces. This involved the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and reliable wired and wireless network infrastructures that supported both front-office and back-office operations. I was responsible for the installation and configuration of workstations, VoIP systems, secure Wi-Fi access for guests and staff, as well as system integration with property management platforms and back-end services.
Beyond the technical implementation, I acted as an executive advisor to hotel leadership. In this capacity, I provided strategic input on the optimization of day-to-day operations through technology. This included improving communication flows, streamlining internal processes, and ensuring that IT systems supported the staff’s ability to deliver high levels of service to guests. My role often involved collaborating closely with hotel management teams, Marriott corporate representatives, and third-party vendors to ensure smooth coordination between business objectives and technological execution.
Furthermore, I was involved as a technical advisor on a number of project-based initiatives. These included infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, implementation of new service platforms, and compliance with Marriott’s evolving IT and data security policies. My hands-on approach and holistic understanding of both business operations and technology allowed me to bridge the gap between technical solutions and practical application in a hospitality setting.
My collaboration with Courtyard by Marriott not only required a deep understanding of the hospitality industry’s demands but also the ability to manage complex technical projects under strict timelines, while maintaining a consistent focus on service quality, operational continuity, and user experience.
